GERMI has established the State University - Pandit Deendayal
Petroleum University - passed by Gujarat Act No.14 of 2007
dated 4th April, 2007.
Dr. Mukesh Ambani – Chairman and Managing Director,
Reliance Industries Ltd. is nominated as the first President
of the University. Prof. Arvind Kudchadker took over as first
Director General of the University.
The University is currently running three schools and a centre
under it and is spread across 50 Acres of lush green land.
The schools are the School of Petroleum Management, the School
of Petroleum Technology, the School of Solar Energy and the
Centre for Good Governance. Students in the University are
growing at a very good pace year by year.
School of Petroleum Management
School of Petroleum Management has been set up under Pandit
Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) as a centre of excellence
in industry learning to develop human resources for the Petroleum
Sector. The first batch of management students graduated in
June, 2008 and now it has completed two years of its operations.
Now the applications invited for its 4th Batch of MBA students.
Admission to School of Petroleum Management is based on merit
of CAT score, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The
School also recently witnessed one of the finest placements
for the Batch 2008 - 2009. Students are placed at Schlumberger,
KPMG, HPCL, IOCL, GSPC & its Group Companies, ICICI Lombard,
E & Y to name a few.
School of Petroleum Technology
The need for getting adequate number of qualified professionals
to harness the resources available with nature in the form
of energy was identified few years back. To cater the need
of such professionals PDPU established School of Petroleum
Technology. It has commenced its first academic in Petroleum
Engineering at Undergraduate level. Full teaching facilities
are created to support Academic activities. It has also started
offering M. Tech. and Ph. D programmes in January, 2008.

Apart from the full time programmes, School of Petroleum
Technology also plans to offer Short-term Certificate programmes
for working executives and other professionals to keep them
abreast of the latest managerial and applied developments
in the Oil & Gas Sector. The Institute plans to establish
full-fledged Research & Development activities to solve
operational problems of the Industry.
School of Solar Energy
The School of Solar Energy provides an excellent academic
and research led environment for solar energy related studies.
The school has adopted a collaborative approach and is in
active contact with academics and scientists involved in extensive
solar energy research across the world. Research plans are
based on the fact that there are possibilities of achieving
excellent scientific breakthroughs in this relatively nascent
field and could go a long way in addressing the energy issues
of the globe in the not too distant future.
Towards this objective, School of Solar Energy plans to
develop systems, components and processes in the areas of
solar thermal energy, photovoltaic and related electronics,
micro-energy systems, chemical energy conversion, energy storage
and rational use of energy.
School of Liberal Studies
School of Liberal Studies currently offers a four year Bachelor
in Liberal Studies that equips a student to develop an array
of intellectual skills, a variety of methodologies or ways
of understanding our changing world, and a broad base of varied
knowledge. In turn, such a liberal education establishes an
invaluable foundation for more specialized study in one's
major or in one of the professions, and for a life-long affinity
for learning and continuing intellectual development.
The course imparts classical education in various fields
like art, literature, languages, music, dramatics, philosophy,
politics, history, law, mathematics, science and general studies.
It emphasizes on the need to seek knowledge for knowledge’
sake, promoting intellectual growth, creative expression and
rational thought.
School of Nuclear Energy
The School of Nuclear Energy (SNE) at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum
University (PDPU) aims at developing “nuclear ready”
engineers who can effectively undertake career assignments
in the global civilian nuclear power industry.
The School of Nuclear Energy comprises of senior faculty
members who have held leadership positions at Department of
Energy (DAE) organizations such as the Bhabha Atomic Research
Center (BARC) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited
(NPCIL) leading research and project assignments for over
30 years. The expertise of the faculty, augmented by world-class
infrastructure, extensive industry exposure and rigorous research
work, presents a holistic learning experience to students.
The School of Nuclear Energy currently offers a 2-year full-time
M.Tech. program in Nuclear Engineering. |
